The Start of the Year
Joyce started the year in a whirlwind! Organising 120 Primary School Children with books, uniforms, new shoes etc. Not to mention a further 54 High School Students who also needed books, uniforms and new shoes. Oh and then AF4K began an Early Learning Centre at the new campus which 250 people turned up to, to enrol their children. Joyce visited all these families to determine those most in need and ended up enrolling 65 new little ones. To think I used to get tired getting my own two kids off the a new school year each year.
If that wasn’t enough, out of the 25 street kids who started in the Feeding Program back in 2009, 5 completed High School and 4 enrolled in Tertiary Education! Amanda is doing a BA in IT, Jill is doing a BA in Nursing, John is doing a BA in Financial Accounting and Ben is doing Hotel, Food and Beverage Management. Amanda, Jill and John received full scholarships and a generous donor is covering Ben’s fees. To think these children started out with no schooling, not even a hope of schooling to be honest, ill health (making it unlikely they would live past their childhood) and a future that was merely going to be joining the Poverty Cycle of their families.
If you were wondering if you’ve done any good in this world, wonder no more. These lives have been completely changed and will go on to change others’ lives (got to love that ripple effect).
