Mavis’ Story

I heard about the school from my neighbour who is also a poor widow. At this school, her two children were happy, being fed and educated.

But I was very sick and bed ridden. I just wanted to sleep rather than listen to lies. A month later, when I felt much better, I went to the school and Timothy was enrolled.

A little while later, the school counsellor visited me and encouraged me to be tested for HIV. I was HIV positive and was put on medication, which initially it made me very sick.

My own family had ignored me. But for three months while I was sick, the school supported me and my children with food and other help.
